Mindra Okonski

Okonski

Mindra Okonski is an energetic and creative rising senior within the Pamplin College of Business with a wide range of experiences. Growing up in Ellicott City, Maryland, she spent time acting as an exhibit guide at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, constructing rain gardens for the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, interning at architecture firms, and 'DIYing' everything she possibly could.

Mindra is currently working toward obtaining a degree in Marketing Management. Her background, however, is in design, as she spent a year and a half studying architecture. The shift into marketing was natural, as she has taken her architectural knowledge and learned to apply structural problem solving to abstract situations, to translate her understanding of human nature into evocative content, and to be resilient in the face of challenges. In the summer of 2019, Mindra entered the business world as a summer intern for the Better Business Bureau. Since that time, Mindra has continued to explore the field of Marketing while interning for ISM Inc., a customer strategy consultant company located in the D.C. area.

Over the course of the past three years, Mindra has remained heavily involved in VT campus life. She has taught two reading seminars for the VT Honors College and then moved on to become a VT Honors College Peer Advisor. In addition, she has held a position assisting students in VT's Architecture and Design Print Lab, and is actively involved in Alpha Rho Chi, the professional fraternity for architecture and related professions. Along with these activities, Mindra also holds a position as a Marketing Department Assistant (MDA) under Professor Donna Wertalik. Mindra loves that she can serve the VT Pamplin community while learning all she can about the marketing world.

In her spare time, Mindra enjoys making art, doing yoga, and being outdoors. She is always happy to offer hiking suggestions for the Blacksburg area.
