Who is Kendyl Florence?
Kendyl is Marketing Management major with a concentration in Digital Marketing Strategy. She devotes much of her time to VT’s student-run advertising agency, PRISM, as their Account Manager and soon to be Director of Development. This marketing marvel is headed towards her ultimate career aspiration of working in a top tier marketing agency doing branding strategy and execution. We cannot wait to see where Pamplin Marketing takes Kendyl when she graduates in the Spring of 2021!
What does this award mean to Kendyl?
“This award has a whole new meaning now that COVID-19 has shaken up everyone's worlds. I was previously going to use this scholarship to intern in a marketing agency in Hawaii, but since plans have changed, I am now blessed to be able to still pursue professional experience knowing most companies won't be able to pay their interns. Being able to support myself through an unpaid internship, as opposed to having to spend all of my time working a wage job, allows me to still gain a summer's worth of experience and I am so grateful to be able to prioritize my career during such trying times.”
Who is Abigail Mercatoris-Morrison?
Abigail is a Marketing Management senior with minors in Art History and the Visual Arts & Society. She is also an accelerated graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree in Material Culture and Public Humanities at Virginia Tech. Abigail truly immerses herself in her passions for the artistic and marketing worlds as the Chief Marketing Officer of Collegiate Women in Business and Ambassador for the Visual Arts and Society Minor at Virginia Tech. This incredible spotlight continues to show her commitment to Virginia Tech through her role as the Student Program Assistant for Undergraduate Education. We have no doubt that Abigail is on her way to big things as she pursues her dream of working in art museum!
What does this award mean to Abigail?
“This scholarship has given me the confidence and courage to fulfill my goals as a marketer. My career goal is to work in museum administration to help drive consumer behavior to grow in cultural engagement. It is my mission to better educate and market this field to the public and this scholarship validates my intentions of accomplishing this dream. I am proud to be graduating from Pamplin College of Business and proud to call Virginia Tech my home. I highlighted working in an art museum as one of my aspirations in my application and thought I would express how I've taken one step closer to my career goals! I will be interning at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. this summer (it will be in an online format due to the pandemic). I will be creating exciting online content for the Gallery Shops, developing a retail social media strategy, generating email marketing campaigns to drive revenue, and copywriting compelling product descriptions that relate merchandise to the Gallery’s collection and mission. I am thrilled to be utilizing my skillsets gained from Pamplin's Marketing Department while pursuing my dream of working at the National Gallery of Art.”
