Earlier this summer, Virginia Tech students were able to travel to Dubai through the Business and Culture in Dubai Study Abroad Program! Students were able to go on a number of exciting corporate visits to FlyDubai, DU, Dubai Marine Resort & Spa, and Emirates Mining. Additionally, they were able to visit governmental agencies such as Brand Dubai and the United States Consul General. During these visits, they were able to meet with the Government of Dubai’s central marketing team and learn about their strategy on Marketing the Emirate globally. We spoke to Professor Adbul, Meena Zaheen, and Jack Luczak who are all thrilled to share more about their experience traveling to Dubai!

"Our study abroad trip to Dubai was an incredible journey.  Throughout the three-week program we were able to learn about the rich history of the region, visit a number of incredible businesses as well as get lots of beach time/sunshine.” - Professor Adbul

“The trip was an incredible opportunity, especially as it was my first time studying abroad. One of the highlights was working directly with a range of businesses, including Flydubai, where I had the chance to dive into a research-based practicum. The hospitality of the people we met and the professionalism of the businesses were truly exceptional. Interacting with professionals from various industries and experiencing Dubai’s vibrant culture and warmth made this trip unforgettable. I’m excited to share more about what I learned and enjoyed during this journey.” - Meena Zaheen

“The highlight of the trip for me was being able to work so closely with different businesses in Dubai. The business that had the biggest influence on me was Flydubai. This was because we were able to work so closely with them on multiple days as well as dive into a research project practicum as groups of students. Being able to speak with high-level executives and ask questions from a multitude of different companies across Dubai in a variety of different fields was extremely beneficial. I feel I was able to learn and grow in a massive way. I also greatly appreciated how we were able to have free time to explore Dubai and truly experience the city in our own way and with other Hokies.” - Jack Luczack
