How did your time at Virginia Tech prepare you for your career now?

“My time at Virginia Tech gave me a lot of confidence. I was put with like-minded individuals that brought out the best in me and gave me confidence. I met some of my favorite people and friends that I still talk to today in class. I remember being very confident going into interviews and new job opportunities from my experiences at Virginia Tech”

What does your day to day look like at Robert Half?

“Robert Half is all about making connections and nurturing relationships. My title is Branch Director, but it is a sales role. Some of my favorite classes at Virginia Tech were my sales classes. I learned that I have a very outgoing personality and love to talk to people. I’m a very customer-centric individual. I like to understand what the customer is looking for and what their needs are. I’m on calls with clients day in and day out to understand what their problems are from a staffing perspective. We help clients find temporary talent to assist on their projects. I work to find the best candidates to work in these roles for my clients.”

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

“I love when I get a call from a client saying that the talent that I found is performing spectacularly and helped save a project. It’s such a good feeling to know that I was able to help both the client and an individual who needed a position.”

What is the most challenging part of your job?

“The most challenging part of my job is that we deal with people, and they can be unpredictable. It’s hard to predict how someone will actually perform on a job when we hire them.”

What advice do you have for current VT Marketing students, specifically seniors who are about to enter the workforce?

“Talk to recruiters! Have somebody on your side that will really advocate for you. It’s okay to graduate without knowing exactly what you want to do. Looking back, if I had temporary or freelance work right after graduation, I may have had more time to figure out exactly what I want to do and evolve more in my professional skills. Reach out to a recruiting agency to get advice as you enter the workforce.”
