Lizzie Daniels, a senior double majoring in marketing management and finance, is a dedicated Hokie who invests her time academically, socially, and professionally. Her commitment is evident in her position as the President of the Virginia Tech Student Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA), along with her previous role as VP of Finance. Daniels' dedication continued to shine professionally during her summer internship at RSM International, serving as a process and risk controls consultant where she will return upon graduation.
Upon arrival at Virginia Tech, Daniels’s came in as a marketing major, sparked by marketing classes in high school. During freshman year, after completing accounting classes, she found an interest in the mathematical and technical side of business too. This realization inspired her to pursue a double major in marketing and finance, allowing her to understand and excel in both the technical and creative aspects of business.
Outside of her academics, Daniel lived by the motto of being involved and taking risks. Attending college in a new state felt daunting resulting in Daniel's decision to join the service sorority Omega Phi Alpha during her freshman year. This allowed her to meet new people and find a community within a large school like Virginia Tech. Additionally, it allowed her to advance professionally in the role of treasurer within the organization. During her sophomore year, Daniels attended the Pamplin picnic, where she learned more about AMA. She wanted to grow professionally and found a warm, welcoming environment within AMA that would help her better understand the professional side of clinical work and participate in various workshops. Within AMA, she became the VP of Finance, which enabled her to combine her knowledge of finance and marketing within a single organization, further strengthening her academic and leadership skills. As the President now, she applies everything she has learned over the past four years and continues to develop her leadership and problem-solving skills prior to graduation.
A message from Lizzie:
"Never be afraid to ask for help."
When discussing how to balance being a double major while being involved on campus.
Looking back on her time in high school, she recognized how she wanted to do everything on her own, and that became overwhelming. Seeking help from professors and peers for guidance is key to being successful in college.
As Lizzie prepares to graduate and enter the work force, she encourages other Hokies to embrace challenges, get involved, and never hesitate to ask for help along the way.
