October 19, 2018
The Pamplin College of Business is thrilled to welcome the most recent addition to theMarketing Industry Mentoring Board (MIMB), Jason Cook. Since graduating from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Marketing Management in 2001, he has spent the past 16 years working in the digital marketing realm and gaining experience across a variety of channels. He spent time managing social media and content marketing for TradeKing (now Ally Invest) and directing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts for LendingTree.
His previous roles in content marketing, HTML development, paid search, social media and influencer outreach led to his most recent position as Vice President of SEO at Bank of America. Cook now leads cross-channel SEO strategy, including driving natural search traffic and account acquisition for several key business segments within the company. Working alongside a team of SEO strategists and key stakeholders from marketing, sales, technology, and public relations, Cook is able to help maintain Bank of America's commitment to making financial lives easier.
Within the company, Cook also found a passion for serving as an Ambassador for the Global Marketing & Corporate Affairs department, coordinating volunteer and team-building events for over 500 Bank of America employees. In his free time, he spends time with his wife and dogs, runs marathons, and advocates for parks and greenways in his home of Charlotte, NC. Through his membership, the MIMB is excited to gain not only Cook's professional expertise but also his support for the Pamplin community as a whole.
The MIMB was established in the fall of 2010 and exists to “make a lasting impact on the lives of marketing students” and to Pamplin as a whole. The MIMB is currently composed of 15 members, each bringing their own unique business and industry experiences to the group. Under the guidance of the current Co-Presidents, Angela Lorinchak and James Wu, paired with Faculty Lead, Donna Wertalik, the Board provides ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities to students and meets biannually to advise students and discuss recent trends in the field as they pertain specifically to the Marketing Department.
