At the crossroads of finance, sales, and marketing, Professor Brian Collins brings a unique perspective to Virginia Tech’s Marketing Department, blending analytical elements from his finance background with the relational and strategic mindset of sales and marketing. As the Director of the Virginia Tech Sales Center, Professor of Practice, and two-time Hokie graduate himself, Collins juggles many responsibilities and has spent the past decade building Virginia Tech’s sales program into the powerhouse it is today. MKTG 4114 - AI in Marketing: How it Shapes the Future of Marketing, Ethically and Responsibly

MKTG 4114 – Introduction to AI in Marketing is a 3-credit hour course taught by Professor Shilpa Rao. Structured into four parts, students understand the myths and facts around AI, explore AI applications in marketing contexts, learn strategic preparation for AI in marketing with in-house skills, and examine the broader impacts of AI on individuals, organizations, societies, and countries. This course has adapted based on student feedback with tasks directly aligning with those done in the industry and the option to complete AI-based certificates to provide a competitive advantage for all students entering the workforce. With the Pamplin Plus initiative having a strong focus on AI, this course stays ahead of where the future of AI and business is heading. The Student Marketing Advisory Board: Leading the future of Marketing @VT

The Virginia Tech Student Marketing Advisory Board (SMAB) is a group of passionate, driven marketing students dedicated to enhancing the marketing department and serving as ambassadors for the program. SMAB members attend events such as open houses, career fairs, and the Majors and Minors Fair to share their experiences and connect with prospective students. They also collaborate with the Marketing Advisory Board and alumni to gain professional insight, network, and prepare for careers in marketing. Through mentorship, engagement, and professional development, SMAB members help strengthen the connection between students, faculty, and alumni.
