Biography

Carolyn D. Kogan is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Marketing at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business, where she teaches courses in advertising, social media and content marketing, marketing management, and personal well-being and professional success. Her classes blend applied learning with real-world consulting projects, enabling students to develop client-ready campaigns and certifications that directly support their career goals.

Carolyn brings over two decades of experience as a digital marketing strategist, with a focus on empowering small businesses and emerging professionals to thrive in today’s media landscape. She leads a student consulting program that provides social media strategy and content development services to organizations across Virginia, with partnerships including the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Virginia Small Business and Supplier Diversity Agency.

A passionate advocate for personal and collective well-being, Carolyn guided the creation of Hokie Headspace, an interdisciplinary storytelling podcast produced by her students. The podcast is available on Spotify, YouTube, and Instagram, and offers students a creative platform to explore identity, resilience, and professional purpose through digital media.

She holds a B.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts in New York and an M.A. in Visual Communication from the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague, Czech Republic.
