Evan Hellmig ’23, a recent graduate of The Pamplin College of Business with a degree in Marketing Management, has come full circle, returning to his alma mater as the Assistant Director for Leadership Gifts. His journey from student to staff member is a testament to the opportunities and support Pamplin offers. In his role, he works to strengthen the bond between Pamplin and its alum community, fostering engagement and support for the college's continued growth and success.

During his time as a marketing student, Hellmig participated in the Professional Sales Program, where he gained valuable, hands-on experience through classroom activities. During a class mock Role Play competition, he was matched with a recruiter from Otis Elevator who was impressed by his performance and encouraged him to apply for an open position. Upon graduation, Hellmig began as a sales trainee at Otis Elevator and worked up to a promotion as an Account Manager. Staying closely connected to Virginia Tech and maintaining relationships within the community, he was excited about the Assistant Director for Leadership Gifts role in Pamplin and seized the opportunity — a role he now holds.

Hellmig credits the marketing department for being highly beneficial to his career and professional development, as it provides students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience through classroom activities. He strongly encourages students to engage as much as they can within the classroom, as he believes that active participation is key to success. Hellmig wants to remind students that even if it seems intimidating or daunting at first, the professors at Virginia Tech are here to help students succeed and always have their students' best interests at heart.

Now, as a member of the Advancement team, Hellmig is deeply committed to contributing to Pamplin's continued growth. His dedication mirrors the college's mission and will help future Hokies find the same sense of community and drive that guided him on his journey.
